A Soft, Cloudy Two-Tone Limewash for Ottawa’s Newest Medical-Aesthetics Space
Envy Cosmetic Clinic wanted its Bank Street location to feel calm, organic and quietly luxurious — closer to a Mediterranean spa than a clinical office. We wrapped the entire space in a custom two-tone limewash with a soft cloudy effect, hand-brushed across curved walls, arched passages and sculpted display niches.

The Brief
Designer Wei Sanchez envisioned a sculptural, sun-washed interior: arched doorways, an oval retail niche carved into the wall, a serpentine planter bench and soft indirect lighting throughout. Flat paint would have deadened those curves. The design called for a mineral finish with depth and movement — one that would catch the clinic’s warm lighting differently at every hour of the day.
Working alongside builder JP Gravel, our team came in after drywall and lighting were complete, and finished every public-facing surface of the clinic in hand-brushed limewash — walls, arches, curved bulkheads and the display niches themselves.
The Finish: Two-Tone Limewash, Soft Cloudy Effect
We layered two complementary mineral shades — a warm greige base with a deeper sand tone brushed through it — blending wet-into-wet to create the signature cloudy limewash look. Because every stroke is applied by hand, the movement is unique to each wall: soft in the reception where daylight floods in, and moodier in the treatment corridor where the finish deepens under warm accent lighting.
Limewash is made from slaked lime and natural mineral pigments. It contains no volatile organic compounds, is naturally breathable, hypoallergenic and mould-resistant — a meaningful advantage in a clinic where air quality matters as much as aesthetics.
