Venetian Plaster Ottawa is operated by Robbie Mansour founder of Designer Wall Finishes and Green Time Painting & Design.

Robbie fell in love with Venetian plaster shortly after visiting Lebanon in 2013..

Origin Story

I discovered venetian plaster while visiting my home country of Lebanon.

I walked into my cousins’ apartment and saw a massive piece of marble on the living room wall.

I ran my fingers along the smooth walls and asked, “Is this Marble?”

“It’s stucco,” my cousin Karim responded.

After returning to Ottawa, I spent months looking for “stucco,” but all I could find was different kinds of stucco for exterior walls.

Finally, I discovered that it was called Venetian Plaster (stucco is a type of venetian plaster).

I began by practicing on my own walls, which was a disaster. I had to redo plenty of walls more than once..

At one point, I said, “Okay, I’m going to learn from someone who knows what they’re doing.”

I started looking online and around town for someone who had worked with venetian plaster, but I had no luck. Even painters with decades of experience have never heard of venetian plaster before..

It became clear to me that not everyone had visited my cousin Karim’s apartment in Lebanon.

I dug deeper and eventually contacted venetian plaster Artisans in Australia and North America. They became my mentors, sharing their knowledge and assisting me in my journey to become a decorative finisher.

I returned to Canada, bursting with knowledge from my Venetian plaster adventures.

I aspired to turn homes, restaurants, and businesses into masterpieces. I’m talking about interiors that give you goosebumps, especially when you add lights and music.

Venetian plaster introduced me to other beautiful finishes such as limewash, microcement, and decorative finishes.

Nowadays, I’m collaborating with some seriously talented artisans, designers, and clients.
